CONTENT ETIQUETTE

This refers to how a writer should conduct his/her self when they are producing or publishing contents.

THE TERM ‘PLAGIARISM’

Plagiarism is when you take someone else's words, work, expression, or thought and present it as your own without their permission.
Plagiarism, which is akin to intellectual property theft, is a serious offence. It's critical for a researcher or content creator to correctly cite the data sources they used in their work, as well as to conduct their own study. Plagiarists are not directly prosecuted, but they can be charged with content counterfeiting. Plagiarism has different definitions and consequences depending on the country.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

  • COMPLETE PLAGIARISM: Complete plagiarism is when you copy and paste the original author's stuff without giving them credit. They're merely changing the author's name here
  • UNINTENTIONAL PLAGIARISM: the unintentional copying or changing the meaning of texts by using different terms.
  • SELF PLAGIARISM: This sort of PLAGARISM involves publishing or presenting previous posts as fresh ones without properly referencing them.
  • SOURCE-BASED PLAGIARISM: occurs when a plagiarist solely mentions the primary source of data and ignores the secondary publisher. It also include citing a fictitious source or providing a fictitious link, all with the intent of deceiving others.
  • PARAPHRASING: Plagiarism that involves changing terms in an original work without conducting his own study is known as paraphrasing plagiarism.

TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

As plagiarism is a serious offence on steemit, to avoid it you must follow the below steps

  • Quotes from external sources should always be enclosed in quotation marks.
  • Ensure that images and words taken from other sources are correctly referenced or cited
  • Best of all be creative i.e be able to come up with you own ideas, thoughts and expression.

PLAGIARISM'S NEGATIVE IMPACT ON STEEMIT

  • You are going to damage your reputation.
  • You'll receive a negative vote.
  • Copyright infringement charges will be filed against you.

CONCLUSION

To have a great and memorable time on steemit, it is expedient and of utmost importance that we stay away from plagiarizing people’s contents and also we must ensure that our posts are well scanned before it is published on the steemit site.

To this end I @vickojay have read and fully understood the content etiquettes of steemit and pledge to abide by it meticulously.
