What is security?
This can be defined as a certificate attesting that a person is an owner of a certain property.

In other words, security is the right or authority that an individual has over something, such right which could come in the form of written documents, group of numbers, alphabets, eye witness in human form etc.

Whenever security is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is privacy, hence, to maintain such privacy a degree of carefulness have have to be applied to make sure that the security outfit is not compromised so that your secret is not spilled.

STEEMIT SECURITY (KEYS)

these has to do with all the careful measures put together to ensure that there is orderliness, regulation and that each member is responsible for whatever happens to and in their account.

This is thus made possible through the provision of uniquely encrypted passwords which allows a member to carry out important functions in the steemit platform.
So, in any case these keys gets to a third party it could lead to someone's account been vandalized.

THE STEEMIT KEYS
There are:

*Posting key
*Active key
*Master key
*Memo key
*Owner key.

USES OF THE KEYS

*Posting key:
This key does some important functions ranging from...
. posting
. replying of messages
. editing of post
. voting
. muting of other accounts
.and it can also be used for resteeming.

Active key:

This is one of the most important keys that is uses to carry out operations like....
. claiming of your steem
. transfer of funds
. placing market order
. powering up or/and powering down of transaction.
.convert steem to dollars token
.it is also used in updating personal profile

Master key:

As the name implies, it is a key that is used in generating other keys. This key in particular is extremely sensitive and important, hence, should be safeguarded properly.

Memo key:
This key serves in encrypting a message from the sender, and also used to decrypt a message by the receiver.

Owner key:
This key as powerful as it appears wanted dragging position with the master key. It has the capacity of been used to change other keys including itself.
Therefore, it not to be exposed or used anyhow but would be necessary most especially when it involves retrieving a lost account.

The first thing I did immediately I got the keys was to forward it straight to my email, that's where I saved it.

• Yes I do, and the procedures are;

i) login to your steemitwallet.com with your active key.

ii) click on the inverted triangle immediately beside your steem

iii) click transfer

iv) enter the user name you want to send the funds to

v) enter the amount you want to transfer

vi) enter the memo you wish to encrypt (optional)

(vii) then click on NEXT to continue

(viii) click on OK to confirm

1. Do you know how to power up your steem?

• Yes I do, and the procedures are as follows:

i) login to steemitwallet.com with your active key

ii) click on the inverted triangle symbol beside your steem balance

iii) select power up

Iv) select amount of steem to be powered up

v) click on the power up button.

After these processes have been completed, a message would be sent to you confirming the number of steem that have been powered up.

CONCLUSION

After going through everything, I came to realize that a lost of any of the keys, especially the owner key and master key, the account itself is as good as useless.

So, in any case all the keys are found wanting ( lost) the account itself is useless.

Therefore, it becomes of utmost importance you prioritize the safety of your keys or password so that your account can be secured.
I recommend that the keys/passwords be saved in the email and also in an SD card where you can easily assess them.
