I'll like to start up in this way am really very grateful and excited with the platform. Special appreciation goes to my buddy @head1 and @njaywan for reviewing and approving of my #achievement1 post, he is an amazing dude and he is the first to introduced me to steemit as well as he helped me sign up.

Steemit have done a really good and nice job in the security of our steemit accounts. It provides its users with security system by generating multiple keys which are commonly referred to permission keys, posting key, active key, memo key and owner key.

These unique keys have their each function and they are so important to know by the users concerning this platform is not just a social media platform giving the users the wide opportunities to create and publish the contents but they get rewarded for the content in cryptocurrency

HOW CAN I KEEP MY STEEM ACCOUNT SAFE?

Your Master password is your one time password. Your password should be safe and secured more preferably it should be saved in the draft section of your email.
You are not expected to share your keys and password with a third party
All your keys should be safe and secured as earlier stated save on your electronic mail.
Your original master password should not misplaced on no condition when logging in with your post key.

WHY SHOULD I BE CAREFUL WITH MY MASTER PASSWORD?

Your master password is used to retrieve all the necessary keys for your steem account. That’s why a third party is never expected to know your master password because they can steal your all tokens and make use of your steem account without your knowledge.

Knowing fundamental and basic information on steem security for novices
Being able to know how your master password works
Being able to know the importance of all your keys such as posting key active key, private power key and memo key.

WHAT ARE MY DIFFERENT KEYS USED FOR?

POSTING KEY:

This key enables your account to post, comment, edit, resteem and also gives you the privilege to follow and mute other accounts. Most users are expected to login to steemit daily using their posting keys.

ACTIVE KEY:

This key is used for more important tasks such as transferring funds, power up/down transactions, converting of steem dollars, voting for witnesses, updating profile details and avatar.;

OWNER KEY:

This key can be used to change any other key of an account including the owner key and it can be only used to recover a compromised account.

MEMO KEY:

This key is the used for decrypting and encrypting memos when transferring funds. In other to encrypt a memo, you should use the pound/# sign before it.

POWER UP KEY:

This key used to convert steem to steem power

PUBLIC KEY:

This key can be used in associated transaction on the blockchain

WHAT DO I DO IF I LOSE MY PASSWORD/KEYS?

Retrieving or recovering your steem account is not possible if you lose your password or owner key. You are expected to store all your master passwords and various keys using various means such as saving it on your drafts in your email, hard drive, writing it down and keeping it in a secured safe box and also saving it on google drive.

WHAT S THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN MASTER PASSWORD AND OWNER KEY?

Master password is the password you get upon signing which is now taken to your steem wallet to enable you retrieve your other keys.Master Password is used to generate all keys as stated earlier including the owner key. The Master can be used in account recovery.
