Hello Steemians, I'm glad to be here again and this is my Achievement2 post about the Basic Steemit Security.
My Steemit Keys Retrieval
After I created my steemit account, I single handedly downloaded a file containing my steemit keys and saved them in my mailbox. My reason for doing this was to keep them safe and help me get easy access to them when necessary.
Functions of the different private keys and it’s restrictions
Posting key
This is one of the essential and most used key of steemit. The posting key is used for several purposes which includes voting, commenting and posting. This actions can only be carried out when the posting key is been used to login into the steemit.com account.
Active key
The active key is the second key of steemit. This key is used for the transfer of funds, editing of profile, conversion of steem dollars to steem. The active key can also be used to access a user’s wallet if it is not kept privately.
Owner key
The owner key is the most important key. This particular key is used to set up other keys. It is recommended to keep this key offline and away from third party at all times. This key also helps in the recovery of lost accounts.
Memo key
The memo key can be used for the decrypt private transfer of memos. The memo key cannot be used to access wallets.
How Do You Plan To Keep The Master Password?
Just like the steemit keys, I also downloaded a file containing the master password and saved it in my mailbox.
How Steem Token Is Safely Transferred To Another Steem User Account
Steem token can be transferred to another user account through the following steps:
Step1: I logged into my steemit wallet account using my username and password.
Step 2: After I successfully logged into my steemit wallet, I clicked at the arrow on steem where I saw several options and they were: transfer, transfer to savings, power up, trade, and market. Then I selected the transfer option.
Step3: Then the next page appeared where You need to input the recipient username and the amount to be transferred and then click on next.
On the next page, you will be asked to confirm the transaction.
How to Power up
Step1: To power up, you also need to login into your Steemit wallet using your username and password, click at the arrow on steem, then several options will appear. Scroll down and select the power up option.
Step2: Then input the amount of Steem you want to power up with. Then click on power up.
