Hello Steemians, Today I want us to look at an important aspect of the Steemit platform that assures us of how safe and secure one Steemit account is. That is what enables you to work, manipulate, edit, withdraw, and decide what or how you want your account to be or look like.

WHAT IS STEEMIT SECURITY?

Steemit uses one of the best technologies in the world of the internet to ensure that those who use their platform will not be afraid of their accounts being hacked or used by others. Just like how text and messages are encrypted using cypher text, but what makes Steemit security more difficult is that it's not a simple alphabetical or only numbers, but a mixture of alphabets and numbers, which makes it more difficult to crack a single code or password.

THE KEYS

Steemit uses passwords which are referred to as "keys" in the Steemit language. As I mentioned earlier, these keys are alphabet-numbers and every Steemit account user has unique keys given to that user. In other words, every Steemit user has his or her own keys, which are always uniquely designed for that specific account.

Each account's key has sub keys which are six (6) and a master key which makes the sum of the keys seven (7). Each of these seven (7) keys has a specific function or purpose, which means you can not use a key that is for posting to withdraw steem from your account. That is why I always say Steemit security is top notch.
Now I want to introduce you to each key and its functions in the Steemit platform, so kindly read to the end.

THE PRIVATE POSTING KEY

Before you can access your Steemit account, you first need to login. This key, which is made up of 51 alphanumerics, is used to login to your account. It's also used when you want to post in a community, and it's also the key that allows you to vote on someone's post.

THE PRIVATE ACTIVE KEY

This key is also made up of 51 alphanumerics and it is used for anything that is related to your Steemit account wallet, such as transactions, trades, powering Steem up and down, transferring tokens, and it is also for monetary purposes too.

THE PRIVATE MEMO KEY

This key is also made up of 51 alphanumerics, and it is responsible for messages that are sent to you by someone privately, as well as giving you the opportunity to reply to messages privately. Without this key, you can not get access to messages that are privately received.

THE PRIVATE OWNER KEY

This key can be termed as the Lord of all the keys, which is also made up of 51 alphanumerics, and it can be used to reset all the others if they are lost or are known by someone, which will be a threat to the security of your Steemit account.

THE MASTER PASSWORD

As the name suggests, "Master Password". You can also call it the mother key, because it was from this key that all the other keys were generated during the registration of the Steemit account.

THE TRON PUBLIC KEY

The Tron Public Key is the key used for public token transactions.
When you have a token and you want to transfer it, you will have to use this key when asked for the key or address.

THE PRIVATE TRON KEY

This is the father of the TRON KEY family because it has the highest authority over the TRON account. This key is used for transferring tokens, like when you want to vote for someone with a token, and it's also for freezing.

HOW TO HANDLE THESE KEYS

As Steemit has done its possible best to ensure that your account is secure. What do you also need to do to protect your account?

• Never save these keys on any online platform because they could be obtained through other means.

• Encrypt the document. Encrypting the document makes it difficult for others to have access to the keys, because even if they get access to the document, they will have to get past the encryption password word or passcode.

• Hide the document in security apps or software. Most security apps and software have places where you can hide a document. APP LOCK is a recommendation from me. This makes it hard and stressful for someone to get access to your Steemit account keys.

POWERING UP

To power up your steem, you need to locate your Steemit account wallet and tap on "STEEM" a drop down menu will appear then you tap on power up.

When this is done, you will be directed to a different page and on this page you will be required to input the amount of steem you will like to power up with and tap on " POWER UP " button. This will direct you to a confirmation page where you will be required to paste the memo key.

After pasting you simply tap on Ok and your steem will be powered up.

TRANSFERRING TOKENS

To transfer token, go to your Steemit account wallet and tap on STEEM and select transfer from the drop down menu.

When redirected, fill out the necessary required information that is the account name you are transferring to, the amount and the memo key.

After filling the required information, you tap or click on next and you will be directed to a preview or confirmation page where you will have to make sure that the informations provided are correct especially the user's name you are sending to.

After you have gone through the details and you are certain, click or tap on Ok and your transaction will be processed.
