Hello guys!! Soo nice to meet you all once again. I hope you are all doing good as am doing great my self. Today i will be talking about plagiarism;
- What is plagiarism
- Some forms of plagiarism
- And how to avoid plagiarism
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism according to the oxford university“is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement”
FORMS OF PLAGIARISM
There are many forms forms of plagiarism but i will be explained some of the most basic and common forms of plagiarism.
- Complete plagiarism
- Direct plagiarism
- Paraphrasing
COMPLETE PLAGIARISM
This form of plagiarism is where a person copies an authors work and decides to label it as his own. I will say this is just a complete stealing of ideas and works.
DIRECT PLAGIARISM
Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks. The deliberate plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and grounds for disciplinary actions, including expulsion
PARAPHRASING
“Paraphrasing means rephrasing a piece of text in your own words. Paraphrasing without citation is the most common type of plagiarism.
Paraphrasing itself is not plagiarism so long as you properly cite your sources. However, paraphrasing becomes plagiarism when you read a source and then rewrite its key points as if they were your own ideas.
Additionally, if you translate a piece of text from another language, you need correctly cite the original source. A translation without a source is still plagiarism, as you’re using someone else’s ideas.”
Example of paraphrasing
HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is a great offense deemed everywhere in the world and most especially bu steemit. You can avoid this by using CITATIONS in your post.
“Citation is the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source.”
You can also use the source code below on steemit to to source pictures that you have gotten from a site without having your content being flagged as plagiarism. The website should be kept in the brackets in the source code below .
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them. Thank you.

Thanks soo much for your support @cryptokannon @njaywan
Hi buddy,
It looks like you copied the definition below directly.
The goal is for you to understand the task and write in your own words.
Also, be sure to add the sentence below to the bottom end of your post as well.
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
Yes. But after the explanation you can actually see the reason why i did that below in my explanation. I used that to explain what direct plagiarism is actually about and it was an example of what it is and that is why I didn’t add any quotations!!!@njaywan
I could also change the example if you would like?
You still didn't add the line I asked you to.
@njaywan I have done that now. Thank you.
You have been upvoted by @njaywan and I’m voting with the Steemit Community Curator @steemcurator03 account to support the newcomers coming into steemit. You may now proceed to the next achievement task.
Keep following @steemitblog for updates.
Thanks.
