The name of the first month of the twelve months of the Bengali calendar is Baishakh. And one of the familiar scenes of the month of Baishakh is Kalbaishakhi. Clouds are formed. Then the wind comes down from there and as a result this period Baishakhi storm originates.

This Kalavaishakhi is basically a kind of local rain and thunderstorm. In some parts of Bangladesh and India, the thunderstorms are usually between April and May, i.e. Baishakh. The average speed of Kalbaishakhi storm is 40 to 60 kmph. However, in some cases, the speed of this storm can be more than one hundred kilometers per hour.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, there is a high risk of thunderstorms in some parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet and in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions.
