Achievement 3 by @swaylee: Content etiquette

This achievement is aimed at enlightening new comers like myself on the etiquette of the steem community. It encourages us to be creative and to avoid stealing someone's work.
It teaches us about the concept of proof of brain. It also aims at educating us about the harm done in works without proper citation.

A PROPER UNDERSTANDING OF PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism from what I understand is passing someone's else work as your own and most especially without citation. A citation can simply be put as a reference to a source, it's a way you tell your readers that certain pictures, phrases or sentences in your work came from another source.

Plagiarism is not a new phenomenon in research but not all plagiarism are alike. Although there is a large rate of plagiarism either due to ignorance or intentionally it is not acceptable.
Generally, plagiarism is not in itself a crime but can be punished in a court for prejudice caused by copyright, infringement or violation of moral rights.
There are various types or forms of plagiarism but we will just brief through the major ones.

1, COMPLETE PLAGIARISM
This is the worst form of plagiarism where someone takes a manuscript that someone else created and submits it under his/her name.

2, PARAPHRASING
I was pretty guilty of this form of plagiarism in the past but after being sensitized I've done my best to avoid it. It involves making little changes to someone's work in order to pass it as yours.

3, ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
This is the most common form of plagiarism because it's unintentional and done out of ignorance but that still isn't an excuse to commit the act of plagiarism so institutions are advised to educate their students on the concept of plagiarism.
