PLAGIARISM

to my understanding, I think plagiarism is the act of copying someone's works without giving them credit for it either online or anywhere else. A copied work, ideas thought of a person using it as your own without the real owner permitting you or giving it a proper citation is what is referred to as plagiarism.

When signing up on steemit my mentor taught me about plagiarising that it's been prohibited in the steemit platform. As the platform deals with proof of brain. Anyone being caught in the act will be banned from steemit or its account will be put on the black list or won't receive a curation reward.

Coping another author's content with a proper citation makes any other reader understand that this content was written by someone else. maybe you want to pick a few points from the original author to relate it with yours if it has a connection.

DISADVANTAGE OF PLAGIARISM

1 plagiarism will destroy someone's reputation. One's readers find out you always plagiarise in your content they won't want to read your content again that alone has killed your reputation

2 wastage of time. Involving in plagiarism leads to time wastage for instance you spend quality time publishing a post on the steemit platform them you are caught in the act of plagiarism your post won't be curated in that case your time and effort are a waste. That is why it's advisable to stay away from the act.

THINGS THAT CAUSE PEOPLE TO PLAGIARISE

1 Laziness has become some people weakness when it comes to publishing content not spending quality time to make research, understand it and write it in your knowledge.

2 lack of self-confidence which brings about fear of failure having the feeling that you can't do it by yourself

WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

1 citation: this is the most and proper way to avoid plagiarism or by quotation by using the simple symbol ("").

Sometimes people also involved in a self-plagiarism which they don't know coping your work too is a self-plagiarism.

IN CONCLUSION.

plagiarism should be avoided not only in steemit also out the platform as anyone who is caught in the act attracts a punishment as it's been considered as a steeling. Writers should put more effort into research and do well to give a proper citation of any copied work, ideas, or taught by another author.
