This second level for me is one of the most crucial aspects of Steemit. There is never an excessive amount placed on security anywhere, any platform with weak security can easily be jeopardized.

Steemit as a social media network built on block chain technology comes with distinguished keys that guards and secures access to it. These keys cannot be easily cramed so solid attention must be given to the safe storage of these keys and confidentiality must be absolute!

We have various passwords on Steemit:

MASTER PASSWORD
This password can be used to generate other passwords/keys. It is generated on the singing up of a newbie.
A steemit account cannot be retrieved if this password is lost.

OWNER KEY
This key can be used to change every other key; it can be used when an account is compromised - this key can be used to recover it.

ACTIVE KEY
This key is used to update your profile, transfer funds, power up and down, covert Steem dollar and place market orders.

POSTING KEY
This key is used for posting contents, deleting, editing, muting and voting.

MEMO KEY
You can use this key to see and send an encrypted message.

How to transfer Steeemit to another account;

Login into your wallet using your username and active key

Click on the arrow beside the steem number. A drop down menu appears. click on transfer

Put the username of the person you want want to transfer to and the amount of steem you want to transfer, and click on next

Confirm your transfer by clicking ok
