Achievement 3 by @salivederci Task : Content Etiquette

in Newcomers' Community2 years ago (edited)

Hi,
After being verified for the 2nd achievement, I am excited to continue on the 3rd achievement, which has more in depth info about Steem in the blog post.
On the inlined link above by @cryptokannon, we can read and understand the concept of "Proof of Brain", Plagiarism and content etiquettes. I also encourage everyone to read the blog post and the linked posts inside.

I won't tell much about Proof of Brain, it's so simple. If you have a concept in your mind about cryptocurrencies and the term Proof of Work or Proof of Stake, you'll know that Steem selected the term Proof of Brain in a logical sense.

What is Plagiarism

In the photo above, we see two people with a laptop for each in front of them and we can easily tell that the person on the left is spying the person on the right, most probably because to steal the content. In other words, theft of ideas.
Now, copying others' work and using them as if they are your own is basically theft, right? We can all agree on this.
So basically, we shouldn't do that because we wouldn't like anyone to call us a theft, before that, we wouldn't like to think ourselves as thefts. So, as in the blog post I mentioned at the beginning of this post, we citate things accurately and we both will be able to use the citated content without being called a theft, and honor the content owner.

In legal sense, without citating where you gathered the info from that you used in your content, you are in fact committing a crime. In most countries there's a penalty for stealing others' work. Plus, it's not ethical.
In another example, whether for work or academical purposes, plagiarism decreases the quality of your work and people may not tell the difference between the work of your own and the copy pasted material. In academical works, when plagiarism is detected, you don't have a chance but fail the lesson/exam.
You can Google and find plagiarism checker tools online!

Thank you for reading my post.
Cheers,
Salih Tekin

I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
