What exactly is security?

Security for information technology refers to methods or tools that help you keep your personal information or any digital asset secured. The goal of IT (Information technology) is to keep these assets, or any information from being disrupted or stolen or exploited by any unauthorized users. There some some different types of securities and I'll try to explain them in the easiest way I can.

PHYSICAL SECURITY:

Physical security is basically safety of people, hardware, software, network information and data from physical actions or any other events that can damage an organization and it's assets.
A lack of physical security can ruin servers and devices. Take theft and vandalism as an example of human-initiated threats that requires physical security.

INFORMATION SECURITY:

Information security or infosec includes some strategies that are used to manage processes , tools and policies that protects both digital and non digital assets. Take cloud security as an example it's basically a set of policies and technologies that protects data and infrastructure it into the cloud computing environment.

Steemit Security

So how does Steemit Security works you may ask? It's not that complicated when you make an account on Steemit you get some keys that they ask you to save properly as they are very important. Those keys are:
i) posting key.
ii) active key.
iii) memo key.
iv) owner key.

All of these keys are important as you need them for basically everything, if you wanna login into you account you need those keys , these keys are also used for encrypting and decrypting data as well as for transactions which is a very good way to keep your account safe.

Have I retrieved all my keys in Steemit

Yes, I have retrieved all my keys of Steemit and saved them on my Google account as it's basically the best option for me atleast.

How can I keep my Steemit account secured?

I can secure my account by securing my keys in a place where it's very safe. I have stored my keys in my phone as well in my both google accounts just in case in future something unfortunate happens.

What are the keys used for?

So here I will explain what these specific keys are used for.

i) Private posting key:

This key is used to grant your account access so you can vote on other posts, post your own posts in communities and commenting with your own Steemit account.

ii) Private active key:

This key is used for pecuniary actions like buying Steems or powering up Steems or transferring Steems.

iii) Private memo key:

This key gives you access for decrypting private transfer momos.

iv) Private owner key:

This key can also be used for buying , powering up and transferring Steems but the main use of this key is that in case if your account gets hacked you can recover your account using this key under 30 days.

How to transfer your steem token from your account to another steem user's account?

So first of all you have to go to your wallet. In order to go to your wallet simply go to your profile and click on the wallet option that is right beneath notification option.

After opening your wallet you'll see a option "Steem" with a small arrow beside it click on that option and you will get a list of some other options.

How to power up your Steem?

So powering up Steems is pretty simple as well. So first you'll have to open your wallet again like before.

After that you'll have to do the same thing as for transferring Steems aka click on the Steem option and click on power up option from the list.
