Hello, Steem World. Greetings from this side.
I'll be sharing my achievement 3 task in this post which is basically about Plagiarism.
What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the use of an author's speech, expression, idea, or research as though it's one's original own without referencing or citing the source.
Plagiarism can be defined in different ways depending on the context.
In some context plagiarism is considered as stealing and a moral and offense.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines the act of plagiarism as; “to steal and pass off ideas or words of another as one’s own”.

Steps in avoiding plagiarism
1. Citation of sources
When presenting speech, idea, research etc that's not originally yours it is important you include the sources which may include the author's name, publication date etc or by coping the link of the internet page where u got your content and pasting under it.
2. Use of plagiarism checker
Plagiarism checker helps track issues in our text. It is advisable to always use a plagiarism checker after typing your work to confirm if there are no plagiarize sentences or ideas before posting.
Plagiarism checker helps in highlighting the part of any documents that contains plagiarized words or sentences.
Examples of plagiarism checkers are Dupli Checker, Grammarly, Word Counter etc.
3. Use of quotations (“”)
Quotation marks are also used to avoid plagiarism, here a text or sentence of an author is copied word to word and presented in a quotation mark. For easy access of the quote source the quote should be cited.
4. Writing in your own way
Rather than coping and paraphrasing or even citing a particular sentence, you can include your own point/ ideas, and try to write exactly like you and no one else.
5. Paraphrasing
Paraphrasing involves getting informations from a source and writing it in you own way without coping the original.
Paraphrasing is the use of different words to explain an author's sentence or idea without changing it's original meaning.
How to Cite a source
Sources are cited by coping the link of the particular internet page you got your text from and including it under that particular content.
E.g: [Source](paste the copied link here)
Example of citation:
Plagiarism means presenting someone else’s work as your own. In academic writing, plagiarizing involves using words, ideas, or information from a source without including a proper citation. Source
- Copied ideas should be presented in quotes ( “”) including the source or with the > mark.
Example of a sentence in quote
“Whether you’re interviewing a subject matter expert or introducing key findings from a report, third-party sources can lend extra authority to your work. . Source
Example of a sentence with the > markup
