Hello everyone, it's a warm greeting from me to you, and I hope we are all having fun and enjoying the season. I am delighted to introduce you to this Achievement 6 Task Post.

Achievement 6 task seeks to explore curation and community, with the purpose of enlightening users on how curation works as well as community.

Question 1: Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

  • Voting

There are two buttons (green & red) that are seen at the bottom of every post. The green button is for upvote while the red is for downvote, hence, with these two buttons, one can carry out either upvote or the other.

Upvotes
When the upvote button (green) is pressed, upvote has been done. Upvote is the means by which rewards are distributed. The reward is given out as soon as the upvote is done however, the amount of reward given to a post is affected by post payout. Furthermore, the post-payout is subject to the voting and steem power of the upvoters.

Downvote
Downvote is the act of changing the distribution of rewards, and this means that the first reward will be sent back to the reward pool. It is done by a simple click on the downvote (red) button.

Curation
Curation is another word for upvoting a post. A fraction of the entire reward for a post is shared among all who curated the post. A person who upvotes or curates a post is referred to as a "curator", while the reward given to the curators is referred to as "curator's reward". There is actually no reward for downvoting a post.

Question 2: What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

The effect of curating a post earlier than 5 minutes is that a portion of the curator's reward will be lost to the reward pool. The breakdown is as follows:

TimeEffect
4 minutes earlierLosses 20% of reward
3 minutes earlierLosses 40% of reward
2 minutes earlierLosses 60% of reward
1 minute earlierLosses 80% of reward
Less than 1 minuteNo reward

Consequently, the best time to curate a post and maximize reward is from 5 minutes to 6 days of the post.

Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?

Of all the tools I came across in the course of doing all the achievement posts, I found steemworld.org more fascinating, user-friendly, outstanding, and educating hence, I will vote @steemchiller for such unique work.

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

There are quite a whole lot of communities on the steemit platform among which I will choose financial security. The reason for choosing this community is basically because of the level of support they offer to their members as well as other benefits one stands to get which includes education on how best to maintain a reasonable financial balance that applies to real life.

My thanks go to @sapwood for his thorough rationales on this achievement task and to @cryptokannon for the provision of guidelines for this task. @xkool24 and @hisgeneral are also appreciated for their assistance.
