Cowherd and Weaving Maid fell in love at first sight and soon fell in love with each other, they held a simple wedding on earth and lived together and spent a good time together. Cowherd and Weaving Maid had a very happy and joyful life. However, the good times did not last long, their happy life was destroyed by the heavenly emperor. The emperor took the weaving girl back to heaven and trapped her in the heavenly palace.

Cowherd was very sad, but he did not give up. He decided to go to the sky to find the Weaving Maiden, and he asked the old cow for help. The old cow gave him a pair of magical cow horns, so that he could fly to the sky to find his beloved.

In the sky, Cowherd used his wisdom to find the Weaving Maiden. They were very happy to see each other in the sky, but the Jade Emperor was not willing to let them be together. The Jade Emperor divided the Milky Way in the sky into two halves so that they could not get together. After being separated, Cowherd and Weaving Maid were so sad and upset that they could only look at each other across the bank and wash their faces with tears night and day. Their sincere and genuine love touched the divine beast, the old bull, who witnessed their love story, and decided to help them reunite.

So, the old bull used his divine power to build a silver bridge for them in the sky by the Milky Way, so that they could meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month, a special day. So, every year on this day, the Cowherd and the Weaving Maiden will meet on the Milky Way to enjoy this short but beautiful time together.

Since then, people have started the traditional celebration of the Tanabata Festival on this special day, and the love story of the Cowherd and the Weaving Maiden has been celebrated for thousands of years.
