Intro

celebrating last Achievement publication with Canva 🤣

In my final achievement task I'm going to answer few questions related to voting, sommunities and Steem Curators role in keeping our platform alive. Before I will do that, let me mention two things:

I couldn't use the discord link which was published in the text as it expired. I am already participating in multiple discord groups steemit related though, so I know how it work and I'll continue to use it until the moment when we will get messenger option on the platform. To prove it, I'm sending screenshot of my discord.

Post includes some short list of the communities we could join and author encourages us to add another groups if it's not there yet. There are updated lists of communities made by Steem Sri Lanka (includes 65 communities) and published on Newcomers' Community. I have prepared also my list of active communities with 125 positions. Not all communities are included yet, I'll be updating it constantly. You can find it here

Now, back to questions from Achievement 6

Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

Yes. Every user can up-vote or down-vote publication.

Up-voting publications gives us some income which depends on many things (I'm writing about it later). We should focus on up-voting the best content on platform.

Down-voting removes part of the reward from the author but don't give us any financial profits. We can down-vote the content which we don't like or which gained too much rewards in our opinion, but I think (and I believe most of users will agree with me) it should be used only if someone publishes content against the rules (plagiarism, NSFW without marking it, being rude, vulgar).

Each vote uses 2% of our steem mana, making next vote less powerful. Steem mana regenerates 20% per 24 hours. That means that we can make 10 votes per day if we want to have 100% steem mana another day. It is possible to up-vote bigger number of posts though.
We can check power of our vote and steem mana level in multiple websites which I have described in my previous Achievement tasks. Personally my favourite tool to do it is steemworld.org. The very same platform allows us to lower the power of our vote to us less steem mana. To do it we need to have at least 500 SP though.

What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

I will use this question to explain how earning on up-voting works in general.

Rewards for post are divided 50/50. 50% goes to the author of the post, another 50% goes to the curators. Some actions can make your curator reward lower or higher. Most important is the time of up-voting.

If you vote a post before 5 minutes after posting, you will get lower reward. Voting before 1 minute after publication doesn't give us any financial reward. In the first minute, we get only 20% of the rewards which we would normally get, in the second minute 40%, third 60%, fourth minute gives us 80% of the sum we could get if we would up-vote post after 5 minutes. I believe it's designed that way to avoid people up-voting everything without reading posts first.

Up-voting good content before other users will do it can be very profitable though, so I would focus on looking for some gems instead of giving likes to any random post.

Reward depends also on our steem power. If you are new user who doesn't have much SP yet, your curation rewards will be lower. That's one of many reasons why it's worth to invest in SP.

Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?

I didn't vote for Steem Witness yet. Steem Witness has to be the person with perfect opinion in our community, trust and some programming skills. That's the position which brings huge incomes (Witness earns almost as much as President of Poland, country where I'm coming from) but requires equally huge responsibility. Witnesses creat the blockchain, allowing us all to earn STEEM and SBD, they constantly update the website and are responsible to fix the problems if they appears.

Every user has 30 votes which can give to different people. I could choose 30 witnesses, probably admins of the biggest communities, users which supports new Steemians with answering their questions, delegating SP, finding gems in the community, finally people who are dedicated to Steemit, want to promote the portal, spend a lot of time here. In my personal opinion, Witness should be active on Steemit at least for a year. I don't think it's a good job for someone who joined recently.

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

I already joined few communities.

I'd like to focus on few communities:

  1. "Steem Argentina" where I'm going to publish my Diary Games. I'm living in Argentina right now, I already talked on steemit with the admins of this group and I consider them as very friendly, opened people
  2. "Writing and Reviews" where I'll be publishing deeper posts, sharing my thoughts with the other users, trying to initiate some debate
  3. " Steem Foods" as cooking is very important for me. I'm a foodie. I already delegated some of my SP to that community.
  4. "Promo Steem" because besides blogging, it's very important to me to constantly work on making Steemit bigger and better place.
  5. "Travel feed" because in the last five years I've spent over 300 nights in the hostels and another 300 sleeping in a tent. Travelling is very important part of my life.
  6. I would like to create my own community dedicated to searching the best content on steemit and publishing it in a form of e-newspaper. I was writing about this idea here

It's a lot but Steemit is very important for me. I'm fully dedicated to it and I want to do as much as I can for this platform.

That would be all. If you liked my post, let me know in the comment.
