Achievement 3 by @ojoyceoma, Task: Content Etiquette

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago (edited)

Beautiful day to steemit community, for my achievement 3 I will be writing on content etiquette

Steemit is a platform where it's users write and post original contents which can be educative, informative or entertaining and while doing so earn from it. The community has put systems in place to see that the idea of an original post is not violated and every user on steemit have to understand this to have a smooth journey here on steemit. Let's take a look on what content etiquette is all about:

CONTENT ETIQUETTE

When you talk about etiquette, it deals with prescribed rules to observe while carrying out certain things, then content etiquette here on steemit are rules to follow while creating your content, these rules guides the content of the posts made by steemit users.

One of the functions of these rules is to maintain that the post made by users are original and that there is no form of plagiarism. What then is plagiarism?

PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is the act of writing a content using someone else's idea or creativity without giving credit to them then posting it as if it were your original idea. When you do this it makes your work a plagiarized content.

There is nothing wrong with using the idea, words and creativity of others to write your content but then in doing so make sure to give them credit or refer to the site if copied from a blog site.

While writing your content you use quotation, citation and even clear acknowledgement on the sentence(s) or image to indicate that it is not originally yours.

In plagiarism, when a writer uses a phrase not originally theirs and fails to add quotation, this can be termed as mosaic plagiarism, in cases where the writer uses a phrase not theirs and fails to use citation or misquotes their source unintentionally , it becomes an accidentally plagiarism. There are other types of plagiarism as well. As seen in the image above, a writer whose idea was stolen is never happy with such.

Plagiarism is avoidable. It can be avoided basically by using citation and quotations.

Example:
Airdrop in cryptocurrency is used to distribute tokens either for free or after performing a task
"An "airdrop" refers to a method of distributing cryptocurrency to the public, via the fact that they own certain other tokens or wallets on a particular blockchain. This is usually done for marketing purposes to incentivize the holding of other tokens or induce them to become a participant in the blockchain network"Source

In the example given above, the first statement is an original thought while the second was lifted from coinmarketcap blog post and enclosed in quotation marks.

At this point I will say that "I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them"

I appreciate the efforts of @cryptokannon and @Ceendy20. Thank you for your assistance.
