Good day fellow steemians,my name remains @ibiskini i've come to do my achievement 3 task haven done achievement 1 and 2 task,also verified.Now i will be talking about
PLAGIARISM
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary,to "plagiarize" means: to steal and pass off(the ideas and words of another)as one's own to use(another's production)without crediting the source to commit literary theft to present as new and original idea or product derived from an existing source
In other words,plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterwards.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
- SELF PLAGIARISM: This is when a person duplicates his or her own work using it for different lecturer's project without letting them know. It happens in academic field alot.
2)DIRECT PLAGIARISM: This is hijacking someone's work verbatim as yours(ie word for word expression) without quoting and crediting the original owner as the source.
3)MOSAIC PLAGIARISM: This can be called patch writing sometimes. It is taking a phrase from the main source and still maintaining the original meaning of the idea without acknwoledging the source.
4)ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM: This is when the author or source is wrongly misquoted or misplaced.
HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM:
- Use plagiarism checker software
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Use your own personal ideas
- Always quote and give credit to the original author or source,eg this a flower with the source below

CONSEQUENCIES OF PLAGIARISM:
- Academics institutions take plagiarism seriously,that can affect the grades or marks. It leads to suspension/ expaulsion depending on the institution's stand on plagiarism.
- If you copy any image and use it for your work wothout acknowledging the source,it is considered as plagiarism. Or ,if you use any copywrited music for advert without the consent and acknowledgement of the owner/source,it is an offence punishable under the law.
TO THIS END
It is better to use your own informations to do your works if you know you will never acknowledge the source of any information,pictures and videos that you may want to use to avoid attracting unimaginable fines to yourself.

Thanks for this timely reminder on this important topic , plagiarism. I have read many posts on this topic in the past both on this platform and elsewhere. And no matter how many times I read about, it continue to capture my interest.
