Achievement 4: Applying Markdown On Steemit : Formatting A Post with Markdown
Introduction
Good day dear steemians in the newcomers community, I will be completing my achievement 4 with a post titled: "Organic and Inorganic Produce" where I will apply the markdown with a learnwithsteem article.
What is Markdown?
Markdown is known as a simplified markup language that allows users to format documents using a plain text editor. It is often used when blogging or sending instant messaging and on online forums like whatsApp, steemit and other blogging site. In this post I will be using markdown as a tool for formatting my post.
Organic And Inorganic Produce
Organic Foods
Organic refers to both the food itself and the food production process used to produce the finished food product.
Inorganic Foods
Sometimes, producers can also modify inorganic food items at a molecular or genetic level for the purpose of cross-breeding crops in order to produce hardier strains with higher quantities.
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Organic Food
Advantage of Organic Food
- The amount of pesticide residues in organic food is less when compared to non-organic food
- Food produced that is organically certified has a higher mineral content.
- Organic food produce also contains more anti-oxidant micronutrients such as phenols and salicylic acid
- Consuming organic foods is safer than consuming nonorganic foods.
- Organically grown animals obviously don’t receive any antibiotics.
Disadvantage of Organic Food
- The product are so much more expensive.
- It is much more labor intensive which raises the price for organic food.
- The rigour of certification process all farmers need to go through to be accredited as an organic farmer is stressful and add to the increase in prices of the product.
- Contaminated food produce can have negative effect on consumers health.
- The shelf life of organically produced crops is often much shorter.
- Because pests and diseases are controlled in a less hard manner, hence, the crop is much more susceptible to crop loss due to these circumstances in the process.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Inorganic foods

| They are often less expensive | They may contain GMOs, which many people prefer not to eat at all. |
| Agrochemical addictive help to preserve them a bit longer | They may have been sprayed with herbicides and pesticides. |
Conclusion
Food has always been a gift from the life giver that helps to nourished the human body, but what matters most is how and where these varieties of food are produce either organically or inorganically. When next you go for food shopping, please make a wise decision considering the advantages and the disadvantages.
