What is Plagiarism?

Steemit Platform have provided a space where users can display their knowledge in practice. Users are allowed to make use of their brains, bring out their original thoughts about any article of their niche. Just as God almighty makes everyone unique so do everyone have endowment of understanding same things differently.

On this basis is the fundamentals of Steemit built on Proof of Brain (PoB). You are capable of writing articles based on your understanding, using your own words not other person's words.

When a user goes out of his or her way to copy from another person's work, making it seem as if such words are his own, without giving acknowledgement to the source, that action is an atrocity and abomination everywhere.

Plagiarism is a criminal act of stealing information or images from other people's articles without their permission or crediting their sources of works. This act means sinning against the laws of copyright and must be shuned for what it is.

An example of crediting one's sources of information is presented below where a paragraph is copied from the lecture note of this Achievement3 and thereafter citing its source.

It is not sufficient to simply note that “text source is Wikipedia”. A link to the specific Wikipedia page where the content came from is required. If numerous sources were used, adding the source after each separate idea is recommended. Source

You can see that not only did I use the quote code > I also show the source. By so doing one can see that the information does not belong to me but from another person.

Types of Plagiarism

One type of this criminal act is directly lifting texts ignoring properly citing of its source. The offender might not even adjust any word or phrase or may try to make replacement of few words with his own. All the same, it's a malignant sin.

Another type is one collecting information from his own past post thinking that since it's his work so there will be no qualms. But that is absolutely wrong, once a post is made any move to copy parts of it to a future article without sourcing it, is offensive.

"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"

Thanks for your perusal.
