WHAT IS PLAGIARISM ?

Plagiarism means copying or stealing someone else's work, idea, initiative and passing it off as one's work without giving any credit or acknowledgement to the original author, this is an offence and it's a problem to the morals of writing in the writing society.

Types of Plagiarism

  1. Complete Plagiarism
  2. Accidental Plagiarism
  3. Source based plagiarism
  4. Direct plagiarism

1 Complete Plagiarism

In this type of plagiarism, the perpetrator copies the original work of another author completely almost without changing anything and still not give an credit to the original author.

2 Accidental plagiarism

In this type, the idea or write up plagiarized is done by accident and is most times not the intention of the plagiarist, though this is not on purpose, it is still regarded as plagiarism because it causes a level of harm or discomfort to the author .

3 Source-based plagiarism

Plagiarism also occurs when a person uses a secondary source for data, but only cites the primary source of information. The consequences of this type of Plagiarism can be serious, particularly when it to medical ideas, write ups or research, because it can heavily affect clinical decision making. This type of Plagiarism attracts stiffer penalty than all others.

4 Direct plagiarism

Direct plagiarism is the copying of an original work word for word with no altercation with no quotation marks to ascertain that the work was copied. The intentional plagiarism of someone else's idea, work, writing is bad and dishonest.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

Whether it is intentional or accidental Plagiarism, we should avoid either by creating our own ideas and writings and if you have to use some parts of someone else's work, you should give the person his or her proper credits and acknowledgement. Include your post or words in your post to make it more effective and protect it from copyright claims.
Secondly, if something from the Internet affects you a lot and you want to use it in your content, then you must give a full reference to the original author. The word "reference" here means that to avoid plagiarism, when pasting a link to the writing, the appropriate font of the copied item is provided
