Plagiarism can be interpreted as admitting people’s ideas or work as their own work or copying the exact sentences of other people’s work. Source

This plagiarism behavior is very detrimental, especially for the originator of ideas as their work will be stolen. Anyone who did the plagiarism completely disrespected other people’s work and took advantage of their actions. The habit of plagiarism makes someone don’t want to think of having any new idea and tend to find the convenience of doing a task or work and it must be stopped.

What Cause Plagiarism

Normally plagiarism is always found in the writing task, academic assignments, articles, or even arts. It happens when someone did it intentionally or sometimes unintentionally doing the plagiarism. The factor which motivates or influence plagiarism is ignorant of the subject, lack of motivation, less supervision, and bad attitude. Source. The solution to avoid plagiarism such as whenever you paraphrase, summarize, or take words, phrases, or sentences from another person's work, it is necessary to indicate the source of the information within your paper, presentation, speech, etc. Source.

According to Bowdoin University, there are 4 types of Plagiarism as belows:

  1. Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is the action to copy word-by-word in a section of someone else’s work, without putting the source or quotation marks.

  2. Self Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism occurs when someone does his/her tasks and it was mixed with other previous works, without permission from someone in charge or supervisor.

  3. Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when someone puts the phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.

  4. Accidental Plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, without attribution.
