Hello everyone am going to be writing on "plagiarism " today and I will start with it's definition.

Plagiarism as defined by the "University of Oxford" is presenting of another author's language, thoughts, ideas or expressions as ones own original work or in simple terms means turning in someone else's work without citing the source. To make content completely free, the write should use plagiarism software or online plagiarism checkers to check their content.

HOW TO DETECT PLAGIARISM

This can be done if the tone or style of the text changes between passages

HOW CAN PLAGIARISM BE AVOIDED
Avoiding plagiarism is one of themost most significant challenges for writers who are interested in generating their original content. It is better if the writer avoids paraphrasing content and cite the source appropriately and look for the best plagiarism checker and know how to detect plagiarism.
There are three rules you can follow to avoid plagiarism and they include

  1. When you want to include an exact phrase, sentence or passage from a source, use a quotation.

  2. When you want to express an idea or information from a source, paraphrase or summarize it entirely in your own words

  3. Always cite the source when you quote ,paraphrase or summarize.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
There are different types of plagiarism which are:
DIRECT OR COPY AND PASTE PLAGIARISM
MOSAIC PLAGIARISM
ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
GLOBAL PLAGIARISM
SELF PLAGIARISM

A) DIRECT OR COPY AND PASTE PLAGIARISM

This involves adopting parts from the writings of another writer without proper mentioning of the source. Often, the person coping from the text does not change even a single word. The plagiarist can also change parts of the sentence or replace some of the words with theirs.

B) MOSAIC PLAGIARISM

This happens when the plagiarist most have mentioned the source but did not properly quote part or put under quotation marks and is mostly done unintentionally but it's still considered a crime.

C) ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM

This form of plagiarism is very common and involves when the plagiarist quotes the phrase or part of the text he or she has taken from the source or material or does not cite the source. In cases like this plagiarist can receive disciplinary sanctions.

D) SELF PLAGIARISM

This is when students copy and paste part of their previously submitted accedemic paper. If the student submits two different papers for two different class project without asking the concerned teacher, it is then considered as self plagiarism.

E) GLOBAL PLAGIARISM

This is the act of submitting work written entirely by someone else and is considered the most severe form of plagiarism because you're deliberately lying about the authorship of the work

Conclusion
It's good to be informed and to credit the author by giving correct citations and quotes to fight against plagiarism
