Voting is a process of valuing or devaluing fellow steemians content in the form of upvoting or downvoting fellow steemians content respectively. Features of a vote are as :
Vote value represents the power of vote and it depends upon voter's steam powe. More the steam power, more is the voting value. Voting weigh is the percentage of voting power that one wish to cast while voting. Suppose at steam power of 96k , vote value is 1$ at 100 percent voteing weigh. Now if one casts vote at 50 percent voting weigh, vote value will be 0.5$.
The point to be remembered is that choice of voting at different strengths is available only after steam power is 500.
Voting power keeps on changing depending upon the number of times voted.
With every vote casted voting power decrease by 2%.
Voting power is regained at the rate of 20% per day . so if we vote on 10 posts each day, voting power wlll decrease by 20% (2% decrease by each vote) but will be regained to 100% as mentioned above.
Curation is the process of selecting posts to be voted upon and the reward offered for it is known as curation reward.. Rewards of a post after payout
is distributed 50% to author as author reward and 50% goes to those who voted on the post, known as curation reward. Point to note is that curation reward is paid only as steem power and author rewrard depends on preference that author sets at the time of posting (may be 50/50 steem /SBD or may be 100% power up) . The comments that we make on others posts is also a part of curation and the rewards on those comments also adds to curation reward pool.
What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?
Voting before 5 minutes decreaaes curation reward and adds that reward to steem reward pool and not to author rewards. Below is tabulated representation of variations in rewards.

The linear rewarding to authors/curators was until the first thirty minutes, now it's just the first five.
