Hello wonderful friends. Trust you are all doing great. Well I am back again to complete my achievement 6 task. In this task I'm going to explain my understanding of curation and community. So please continue reading as I attempt the questions below.

Do you understand how voting and curation works?

Posts are liked on facebook or other social medias which indicates appreciation for the post. The same can be said of steemit but in a much better way.
Unlike in other social medias vote in steemit comes with a reward from the voter.

The process of casting a vote is known as curation.

The voting mana can be compared to a battery or energy bar in a device which reduces each time it is use to vote. Every user starts out with 100% voting mana and and each time you use it to vote it reduces by 2%. The more vote you cast, the more your voting mana reduces thus reducing the influence of the vote. The first post you voted will have a higher influence than the following ones. But the network recharges your your voting mana by 20% everyday. So if your voting mana reduces a lot you can give it some time to recharge fully before you start voting again.

You gain curation reward from voting a post. Whenever a post pays out the reward is split between the author and the curators of the post, 50% to the author, 50% to the curators .

A curator who has a higher steempower has the highest amount of the reward.

New users are only able to upvote with 100% voting strength, but once he gets up to 500Sp, a vote slider will appear when he casts the vote. The slider can be used to adjust the weight of the vote. The slider is shown in the screenshot below.

How to vote on a post
At the end of every post we see a green and red arrow. The green arrow is for upvoting while the red is for downvoting. So you clock on the green to make an unvote but on the red for a downvote.

Downvoting a post can reduce the reward of the author. Downvoting does not earn the curator any reward since it reduces the reward for the post.

What happens if you vote a post before 5 minutes mark after posting?

The 50% reward the curator earn from curating a post is calculated based on the time the voting took place.

curator/voter who votes for a post before 5 mins will receive less reward. It is always advisable to wait till after 5 minutes after a post is made before voting on it.

Who will you vote for as a steem witness and why?

As we all know steem witnesses are sets of people are elected to create blocks for steemit and serve as the governance body. They make use of the delegated proof of stake system. They produce these blocks every 68 seconds round.

Witnesses are elected through a democratic process. Users vote for them and the witnesses who gets the highest votes will be selected among the 21 witnesses to act as block creators. They gain a reward of Sp for each block they create.

Each user account can vote for as much as 30 persons for steem witness.

I will like to vote for @justyy and for @steemchiller. I will like to vote them because of their contributions to the platform. They have proved to be hardworking and diligent & they have especially shown that through the wonderful tools they have created.

which community will you like to join in steemit and why?

Below are the list of communities I have already joined and why I joined:

Newcomers :the newcomers community is beneficial to all steemit users as it helps and trains new steem users and enlighten them more about the platform. The most effective way it has done that is through the achievement tasks.

Steemkids: I joined this community because I am a kid lover. I love to care for kids and to help them out.

Inspire people:I joined this community because I love to read and share inspirational posts.

Draft crearte:I joined this community because I love art and love to sharpen my skills in it.

Steemfoods: I joined this community because I love to see interesting recipes and beautiful food presentations and I also enjoy cooking.

Steem Sri Lanka :The steem Sri Lanka community is a welcoming community. It allows users to create whatever content they want while avoiding plagiarism. It also contains list if tutorials that benefits new users.

These are just some of the communities I have already joined and there are still more I will love to join in the future as time goes on.
