WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
According to the English dictionary, it is copying of another person’s ideas, text or other creative work, and presenting it as one’s own, especially without permission.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

There are different forms of plagiarism; they are:

DIRECT PLAGIARISM
This is when the writer copies the original work or article word to word without proper citation, attribution and acknowledgment or without the use of quotation marks.

SELF PLAGIARISM
Self plagiarism is copying a work already presented by oneself. For example, when a writer includes a copy of their past work in their present work without proper citation.

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM
Mosaic Plagiarism is a case when the writer includes clauses, phrases and some sentences gotten from another writer’s work without proper citation or acknowledgment, that is basically restructuring the original article.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
Accidental plagiarism occurs mainly due to ignorance. It is a case where the writer fails to acknowledge the original work properly. It can be due to omission or misinterpretation, nevertheless, it is still plagiarism.

WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
It is very important to create genuine and original content and to avoid plagiarism. That can be done by doing the following:

CITATION OF THE ORIGINAL INFORMATION SOURCE
It is of utmost importance to properly acknowledge or reference a work that does not originally belong to you and give credit to the actual source.

THE USE OF QUOTATION MARKS
If a phrase or clause from another writer’s work is included in your article, make sure to make use of quotation marks to specify that the phrase or clause does not belong to you, and be sure to include the source of the work you quoted.

AVOID PARAPHRASING
Avoid rewording, reorganizing an article by another writer, but still maintaining the pattern does not mean your article is an original. The writer still deserves credit for your work, so passing it off as your own is still plagiarism, and so should be avoided.

CREATE YOUR OWN IDEA
This is the most effective way to avoid plagiarism, Taking time to carry out researches on the idea you are working on, and further develop content from your research, understanding and experience is the best way to successfully avoid plagiarism.

USE OF PLAGIARISM CHECKER
After carrying out the above mentioned, it is also important to check your work with the online literary theft checker, to confirm that your work is completely original and not a plagiarized one.

I have gone through and understood Steemit’s etiquette in the Steemit community and I will keep to everything mentioned in it.

Thank you!
