Dear all,

I am much honored to visit Steemit once again for Achievement 3 in which I am tasked to give my indent understanding on plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism

Plagiarism is copying someone's work, idea, copying and pasting without the person's notice. It is a Fraud to copy the idea or copying the work of someone without citing or making reference of the source on which you copied from.

It is not bad to use someone else's idea or copying a work from different sources because there is nothing new under the sun. But there is a need to cite from the source or make references from where you had the source from. Without making room for citations or references, the work is therefore not original, thus regarded as stealing or fraud.

The phrase “without crediting the source” means that it’s okay to use the words and ideas of others, but you have to cite the source to avoid committing plagiarism.
Scribbr editors

There are types of plagiarism and they are ; copy and paste , mosaic plagiarism, self plagiarism, global plagiarism.

Copy and paste is also called direct plagiarism, it when you use a paragraph from a different source without citation. One has to learn how to cite when the need arises to include a passage from another source.

Mosaic plagiarism is making a patchwork out of different sources. That is coping pieces of work from different sources as well as researchers.
The might be a completely new piece, but the words and ideas are not new.

Self-plagiarism is when you wrongly cite you previous work. Since it is not cited well, it can lead to self plagiarism.
They do expect an original work, so not citing properly may cause stir.

Global plagiarism is when you use someone else’s paper, you are committing plagiarism because you are pretending that the words and ideas are yours.
Using someone else’s work includes, for example, having a friend or family write the text for you or buying an essay from a so-called essay mill.
