Achievement 3 by @kombatnatuka Task: Content Etiquette
Hello steemians,
Today we will be dealing with plagiarism what it and how to avoid it.so what is plagiarism
Plagiarism to simple put is to take someones work or idea and publish it a your work. It may be text, video or image that belongs to someone else without any proper citation. Types of plagiarism:
Direct plagiarism
It when a person takes some one work word for word without quotation or attributing the work to the owner.
Self plagiarism:
It using your own previous work to submit for another work without the proper knowledge of the professor involved
Mosaic plagiarism:
It is a type of plagiarism where a person finds synonyms for the authors work while keeping it original context.
Accidental plagiarism:
This happens when a person does not cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words.
Source
In the academic society this a very serious offense. To avoid plagiarism, one must provide the source of the work he is putting out if it does not belong to them .example “Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.”
This was taking from wikipedia source.
The source will take you to the authors original work.
Making citations example “Generally, plagiarism is not in itself a crime, but like counterfeiting fraud can be punished in a court for prejudices caused by copyright infringement, violation of moral rights,or torts. In academia and industry, it is a serious ethical offense.” source
and referencing work of others is the best ways to go to avoid plagiarism this will help us to to be creative and to be able to use others work to support our ideas without plagiarizing their work.
We can also paraphrase from other peoples work if it adds more meaning to tour work but we have to add the source of the paraphrased work .
As can be seen there is a source to all the information that were not mine.
I encourage that we avoid spam messages in the steemit community as it not acceptable in the steemit conmunuty.
"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"
Thank you.
