Hi there steemians

Welcome to my second achievement post (achievement 2) in which I would be writing a response in view of the achievement task which is BASIC SECURITY ON STEEMIT.

Basically, security is the guarantee or condition of not been threatened or free from harm. So in order to be safe on steemit, you should be secured, that is what I seek to achieve with this achievement 2 post.

Generally, there are very important keys on steemit, which is given to a user as soon as he/she signs up on steemit. These keys are used for specific task and purposes. What you should know is this keys should not be known off head, the moment they are known of head it means your account can be compromised.
I will now take a look at the questions below:

Question 1:

Have u retrieved all your keys on steemit?
Yes I have, I have saved an offline copy on my computer right after registration and a copy to my E-mail. This includes my posting key, master key, active key and my owner’s key.

Question 2:

Do u know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Yes I do.

To begin with, the Posting key allows users to post their content, vote, restreem, comment on posts, edit posts, follow and mute other users. Most users on steemit including me also use the posting key to log onto steemit everyday. The posting key is what should always be used when you want to perform all of the above functions. Using the posting key limits the harm even when you have been compromised.

Also, the active key is used for delicate matters relating to the user’s wallets.
The active key is used for transferring funds, power up and power down transactions, voting for witnesses, converting steem dollars, updating profile details and also placing an order on the market.

Furthermore, the owner’s key is the most powerful of all the keys as it can change any key of the account, with the owner’s key inclusive. It is used to recover compromised account. It is meant to be used only when necessary.

Lastly, the memo key is used in encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds .The pound sign (# ) is used when encrypting a Memo.

Question 3:

How do you plan to keep your master password?
I have downloaded the keys and they are safely stored in my gmail.

Question 4:

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
Yes, the steps are as follows;

1: Click on the avatar icon; a drop down menu will appear.
2: Select profile from the menu.
3: Click on wallet
4: You will see steem option with an arrow pointing downwards, click on it.
5: Select transfer
6: A pop-up menu appears, fill the name of the person you want to transfer the funds to in the ‘to’ space.
7: Click on next and then confirm.

Question 5:

Do you know how to power up your steem?
Yes, the steps are as follows.

1: Click on your profile
2: Select wallet
3: Click on the steem option with an arrow pointing downwards.
4: Click on power up.
5: Enter the amount of steem you want to power up and power up by clicking confirm.

This is basically what you should know on steemit.
Thank you.
