Achievement 2 post by @jhayss Task : Basic Security on Steem
I believe you are doing great and your day is going flawlessly well. I'm exceptionally cheerful since I have at last come to the information of steemit security framework and I have gotten information of all the keys and how it's been utilized. Security is an essential thing in our everyday operations of life.
Stay with me as I answer the questions.
Question 1:
YES. I have obtained all the passwords and I have saved then in my drop box and google drive. Moreover, I had saved them offline too.
Question 2:
Certainly YES, thanks to the article by @kiwiscanfly I know all the key functions and the restrictions.
First and foremost, the posting key. The posting key enables users to post, vote, resteem, comment, edit and follow or mute other accounts. It is likely to have your password or key compromised the more you use it so it is advisable to limit the rate of use of the posting key, to avoid a compromised account.
Secondly, the active key is for more careful and sensitive tasks such as transferring funds, converting steem dollars, power up or down transactions, updating profile details and placing a market order.
Thirdly, the owner key. This is the most important key amongst the other keys. This is because it can change any key of an account including the owner key. It is meant to be stored offline and only used to recover a compromised account.
Lastly, the memo key. This is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds. In order to encrypt a memo we use the pound /# sign before it.
Question 3:
The master key is used to generate all the other keys including the owner key. This is an important key. This password is very delicate that if misplaced, that account is lost and can never be retrieved. I plan to keep my master password offline in a safe and right place because of its importance.
