Hello great minds, it’s another beautiful evening here and I believe y’all have had and having a wonderful new week day already.

Today I’m giving answers to my achievement 3 questions “CONTENT ETIQUETTE” and it’s my privilege to read through the contents etiquette of this platform before giving my answers here

MEANING OF PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution. Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics.link

Personally I define it as the act of stealing people’s idea and authorship and making profits from someone’s suffered idea.

UNPROFESSIONALISM OF PLAGIARISM

Though talk of plagiarizing consequences is often focused on the academic world, it has serious repercussions in the professional world as well. Any time you use the words, phrases, images or written ideas of another and present them as your own, it is considered plagiarism, and depending on the circumstances and severity, can be an actionable offense.

  • It’s considered an illegal act
  • it’s considered unprofessional in the fact that it’s someone’s idea that you’ve abused without the consent of the original author
  • Making profits from someone’s idea and authorship is considered as piracy

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
Global plagiarism: plagiarizing an entire text by someone else.

Verbatim plagiarism: directly copying someone else’s words.

Paraphrasing plagiarism: rephrasing someone else’s ideas.

Patchwork plagiarism: plagiarizing parts of different sources and stitching them together into a new work.

Self-plagiarism:recycling your own previous work.

STEPS TO OVERCOME PLAGIARISM

  • Always read through others ideas and learn from it
  • Always make acknowledgements of the authorship from which you took the idea from and by adding a citation
  • Wherever you pick a photo try to add it’s original link to acknowledge its original source
