I want to greet all members of the Steemian community. After completing achievement 1, I am supercharged for achievement 2. The entire process was made more accessible by @focusnow's patient and guidance. Thanks a lot!

I will talk about basic security on Steemit at this stage. The process of securing accounts on Steemit is one of the unique features of the platform. The password may look very long, but it's for safety. Believe me. No other crypto wallets would offer the same level of protection provided by Steemit.

In this post, I will explain my understanding of basic Steemit security. Then, in an attempt to make it understandable to a layperson, I'll explain it so it will become easy for everyone. Ok, let's begin.

My explanation will seek to answer the questions in the question area. I will start by answering the following:

Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?

I have been studying the Stemit platform since I joined and downloaded a pdf file containing a list of passwords and other details about me. After that, I read different posts and content from the @NewcomersGuide section. The lists below are the priority, guided to read. The keys below lead everyone who owns or has access to it to the power of your vault within the Steemit blockchain ecosystem. Let's be guided and careful in using these various types of keys.

• Posting Key
• Memo Key
• Active Key
• Owner Key
• Master Password Key

Now, let's dive into the Steem Key Management without any idly.

Do you know each of these critical functions and restrictions?

Posting Key

The posting key is the only way to submit posts, apply upvotes and downvotes, select and deselect followers, mute accounts and earn reward balances. Grant access to the report at any time and should be adopted as the best way to access the account.

Having a posting key ensures the security of your account. In this way, it maintains the safety and security of the tokens by limiting the ability of the user to use them only for functions that don't require access to the wallet.

Memo Key
Private messages sent and received via your account can only be encrypted and decrypted if you have the memo key. Using the memo key allows you to send and receive encrypted communications.

Active Key

activepostingkey.jpg

Never use your active key to log in daily and post or upvote. Your posting key is more appropriate. The active key would help to confirm transactions or trades or change user settings.

Owner Key
Owner keys are key types with the highest level of privileges. Hence, there is a need to safeguard what we own. Because the account could be manipulated with it in case of loss or theft, the ownership can be taken over if the key gets into the wrong hands. By this act reduces the features and operations of any normal one. In the loss, reliance for retrieval would depend on the Master Password Key using the CLI Wallet or an API Library like steem-python.

Master Password Key

masterpostingkey.jpg

The master password is used to derive all keys above as the name sound. It uses the hashing function to calculate the corresponding private and public keys from the master password, the account name, and the key. The only savior for retrieving all other private keys of an account is the Master Password. Every member needs to desist from using the master password to log into steemit.com or another steem application. Also, do not try to add the master password into posts or transaction memos. Instead, make use of the lower privilege keys to keep the security of your account intact. Note that the Master Password is the only key used to generate all the other keys, including the Owner Key.

How do you plan to keep your master password?

Though few weeks after my registration on steemit.com, my PC crashed, and the screen went blunt. I went through the huddles to get it to fix after one week. During this period, I kept up with the trend and activities going on Steemit via my smartphone, although I didn't make any posts, comments, or votes. Instead, I keep reading the content and contributions on it. There and then, I discovered I had downloaded a pdf file the first day I registered, but I haven't gone through and inside it is all valuable information about every password and key on Steemit.
And now, I have saved a soft copy of it on a flash drive. Then, I printed a hard copy of it and kept it in my portmanteau. After making a mistake with my master password the first time I signed up, the website came up with a warning signal about not using the master password to log in frequently. So, I desisted from such, and I used the posting key, and I have been using it since then.

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Guide to start transferring steeem token to another steem user account, specific steps must be taken, and I will address it instantly.

Step One: Login with your private posting key first and then with the activation key into the wallet area.

The active key will not log you in at first, and maybe this restriction is solely for newbie accounts. I am yet to find out.

Step Two: Go to the balance section. Click on the drop-down menu below the "buy steem."

Step Three: Click on "transfer" from the options such as transfer to savings, power up, trade, and market.

Using the memo key allows you to send it as an encrypted communication. So, use the Memo key on the memo bar.

Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

And here we are at the safe landing since we started the discussion on the basic security on steemit. I hope it is well disseminated to everyone reading it. As for me i will come back often to have a glance at it. Because everything that i'll be doing on this platform rely on how sound i am on the subject of today. Thank you goes to you reading it and to the following users too:
