A citation is simply a way of showing respect to the original writer or source when you use their words, ideas, or research. It tells your readers:
“This idea is not mine, I’m giving credit to the person who shared it first.”

Example of a Citation:

Suppose i am writing about education and want to include a famous quote:

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Put the words inside quotation marks
Mention the author’s name (Nelson Mandela)
Mention the source (example: goodreads.com)
