What is Wellness? ... How are we?

It is important to be clear about what we understand by well-being. Good mental health is associated with well-being, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), as "A state of well-being in which each individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stress of life, you can function productively and fruitfully and you can make a contribution to your health. community".

Now, well-being is an increasingly used term, but it is defined by our language or literacy according to our mental health, our emotional state, our strengths, etc., but it is always linked to whether it is physical health, mental health, if it is a feeling or a state that can be measured.

However, when you want to inquire about the well-being of a person we ask how they are, or how they feel, but in reality it comes down to the expected answer, really knowing the details of their difficulties and their achievements, or their failures and wins, or just waiting for the automatic reply, "I'm fine."

For the current situation in which we are living due to the Pandemic, it is important to recognize that many of our thoughts are tied to different processes that make us define our level of well-being. To do this, we must identify what makes us think about how good or bad we feel, if we are more destructive with ourselves, which helps to accelerate the state of despair due to the different factors that overwhelm us: economic, family, emotional, etc., or if we look for the necessary tools to survive the situation presented.

Part of this entire process of identifying emotions is closely related to recognizing that it is a process that occurs through our physical system and the other systems that make us up as human beings, in addition to the importance of recognizing emotions , call them by name and their influence on the development of the daily routine that are what accentuate our mood. It should be taken into account that each person reacts differently, feels different and expresses themselves differently, their points of view from different perspectives can allow them to understand, perceive, regulate those sensations.

Environmental factors influence the vision of each individual, they allow them to classify their experiences in a positive ✔ and negative ❌ way, and they can even use them in different ways; the internal part of each person depends on the capacity they have to create or develop strategies to face each situation that comes their way and take advantage of them.

For this reason, it is essential that human beings recognize that their body is part of a whole and needs their other systems to connect with their other elements, and thus achieve the full development of being. It is human to experience different emotions towards the same situation.

It is important to consider that habits for healthy living should be implemented and likewise, the development of these habits will allow the personal and professional growth of each individual. (next post)

This year has given us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves, so it is up to us to get the best out of each one, it is time to analyze what we are good at, how we can help ourselves and others with our personal or professional skills and abilities.
