in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Hello everyone!
How are you all? I hope you all are safe and sound. I am very glad to tell that I have successfully completed my previous two achievements. And now I have to complete my 3rd achievement.
In this achievement I have tell you about content Etiquette. For this first of all i tell u about what is Plagiarism.

PLAGIARISM
The word plagiarism has come from the Latin word ‘plagiarius,’ which means to stolen.

Plagiarism is a type of cheating that involves the use of another person's ideas, words, design, art, music, etc.
For example: The Case of Alex Haley

In other words you can say:
. And copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit.
. failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
. giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
. changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit

Why does it matter?
Plagiarism is a serious problem. If you as a student are caught plagiarising it can have serious consequences for your future and work career. When you cheat through plagiarism you are ultimately cheating yourself as you have spoiled the chance to learn and develop your knowledge on a specific subject.

Types of plagiarism:
There are four types of plagiarism

  1. Direct plagiarism
  2. Self plagiarism
  3. Mosaic plagiarism
  4. Accidental plagiarism

DIRECT PLAGIARISM:
Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else's work, without attribution and without quotation marks.

SELF PLAGIARISM:
Self-plagiarism is one of the common types of plagiarism, where high school students copy and paste part of their previously submitted academic paper. If the student submits the same paper for two different class projects without asking the concerned teacher, then that is considered as self-plagiarism.

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM:
There is another type of plagiarism which is unintentional. In this case, the plagiarist may have mentioned the source of the content he has referred to. But, if he does not acknowledge the quoted part or put them under the quotation marks correctly, then the writer commits the crime of plagiarism.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM:
Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, or sentence structure without attribution.

JAIL FOR PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is a crime – that is a fact.
Most cases of plagiarism are considered misdemeanors, punishable by fines of anywhere between $100 and $50,000 — and up to one year in jail.

How to avoid plagiarism

  1. Keep track of the sources you consult in your research.
  2. Paraphrase or quote from your sources (and add your own ideas).
  3. Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list.
  4. Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.

Hey ya, most of your content is copied from different sources although you are talking about plagiarism and stealing of words of others and you yourself is doing the same.

I'll recommend you to read thoroughly the guideline Achievement 3 : Content Etiquette by cryptokannon

More than 50% of your content is plagiarized.

Here are some links:
source1
source2

What you have to do is to give a reference to the source to avoid plagiarism. You can give it this way. After copying a sentence or paragraph write in square brackets [source or reference] and then copy the link in () round brackets. LIKE THIS
[source] (copy your link) ~ I have given a gap but you have to do it without space.

And for another citing method please read the guide carefully and remember
PLAGIARISM IS A CRIME AND STEEMIT DOES NOT TOLERATE THIS UNETHICAL BEHAVIOUR

P.s Now you are making your third achievement so avoid mentioning curators if you want you can mention the greeters.
So start citing and happy steeming.

Congratulations on getting successfully verified over Achievement 3 Best of luck for next Achievement
