Preamble: Window Snyder, a chief security officer at Fastly, once said concerning security; "one single vulnerability is all an attacker needs".

Account Security On Steem:
Your account in the steemit platform is always save and secured maximally. And with the cryptography mechanism, crypto tokens are protected from counterfeiting.
The only challenge each user has is how to preserve the access tools (keys), which can be stolen or lost without recovery. Hence, the importance of the achievement2 task on steemit:
Basic Security on steem.

The access tools are group of numbers and characters, generated by steemit platform upon sign up, but kept by the account owner, and the responsibility of securing and or, losing them falls squarely on the user.
It is sequel to the above reality that my curiosity to study the steem keys matters with Keen interest, was raised.
Again, the above critical issues about your keys on steem which steemit throws at your face upon sign up process, serve as my answers to; why should I be careful with my master password and how can I keep my steem account secured.
Therefore, my duty here is reduced to practically demonstrate my clear understanding of the functions of all the keys.

What are the keys?
I will explain them in the order of microcosm to macrocosm.

  1. Public posting key: This is the most frequently used key, it's used for logging in for posts, comments, editing, voting, resteeming posts, follow other users and mute followers.

  2. Private active key: This a more sensitive key, it has the following access power; transfer of funds, power up or down of user's steem power, converting steem dollars, voting for witnesses, updating profile, avatar and placing market order.

  3. Private owner key: I call this; key of necessity, most powerful, that can change any key but only used for recovering compromised account. It strongly advised that this key should be stored offline.

  4. Private memo key: This is another sensitive and determinant key, it's used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds to other users. A use of # pound sign is required to prefix the key when using it.

  5. Master password: This is the macrocosm (mother key), that can generate other microcosms ( other keys), including the owner key. It is also used when going through account recovery.
It is germain to state at this point that, if for any reason the master key is lost, it shall be permanent lost for there is no hope of regenerating.

Now to the basic questions

  1. Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
