Achievement 3 Task

Greetings from @fahad3728 to all steemians. Hope you all will be fine. Today I will complete my achievement 3 task which is about ‘content etiquette’. First of all, we should know the definition of ‘etiquette’.

Etiquette: the set of rules or customs that control accepted behavior in particular social groups or social situations. Source

The definition tells us that we have to follow some rules and regulations to maintain a healthy environment in a community or platform. As we know that we follow some rules in our homes, schools, offices, and other places where we go to maintain a healthy environment. Similarly, there are some etiquettes we have to follow in steamit. Steemit is a social media which only accepts original and quality content. We have to be ourselves. Everything I want to post should be my original content with 0% plagiarism. Now I will discuss some of the content etiquettes which we have to follow in steamit.

Content Etiquettes

1: Don't post more than 4 times a day
2: Check out new user's posts and encourage them.
3: If you discover a quality post then you should upvote and comment.
4: Don't steal other people's work. Make your original content.
5: Don't re-steem every post.
6: Don't ask for votes and don't be a drama queen.
7: Do forgive people and do apologize when you are wrong.
8: If you copy something from other sites make sure you attach source information which is called a citation.

What is Citation?

A "citation" is the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source. It also gives your readers the information necessary to find that source again, including: Source

information about the author.
the title of the work.
the name and location of the company that published your copy of the source.
the date your copy was published.
the page numbers of the material you are borrowing. Source

This means you have to locate the location of the source where you copied something. That is how you can escape from plagiarism. Now we discuss plagiarism.

Plagiarism and its types:

Plagiarism means I steal someone's work and label it as my own. This is not acceptable on any platform. If I copy someone's data and don't give credit to him, so it falls into the category of plagiarism. So ‘avoid plagiarism’. This is the most important etiquette in steamit platform.

Types of plagiarism:

Direct Plagiarism
If I copy someone’s text and paste it as it is and not change a single word and label it as it’s my work then this falls into direct plagiarism. This is the most harmful type of plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic plagiarism means when I copy little text from different sources and combine them to make a paragraph. I also change some words but that text does not belong to me.

Self Plagiarism
It means when I copy my previous work. Instead of making new content copying, my previous work falls into the category of self-plagiarism.

Accidental Plagiarism
It means when I unintentionally forget to cite the source’s information or I entered the wrong address of the source. Or I accidentally made the same text which already posted by someone.

"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"

Thank You All
