Do you personally or virtually know somebody from Steem? If yes, then they can help you navigate around, if not, no worries, you'll still find plenty of people always ready to help.

Like o1eh said, your verification can take a while, till then, start writing and interacting in communities that don't require verification, like World of Xpilar or the Italian Community. Most likely, you are going to be bombarded with tons of rules, don't feel overwhelmed, stick to these flexible communities and take your time to learn the system, before you move into the world. You can also post on your blog but posting in communities can give you more exposure which you need the most at this stage.

Votes are generally scarce in the beginning, this shouldn't discourage you. Instead, work on building your credibility by creating high-quality content, by just being "you" and interacting with other users (that's equally important). Steem is a community that thrives on meaningful discussions (or let's say give-and-take policy).

You are being noticed, trust me. All you need to do is to be consistent because beginnings are always tough. It's always the dedicated ones who enjoy the fruit, the impatient ones just leave midway.
