Plagiarism is the use of someone else's
language , work, expression or thought without their consent and presenting the work as your own.

Plagiarism is one very important offence as it is similar to intellectual property theft. It is important that a researcher or content creator properly cite the sources of data used in their work and also ensure they carry out their own research . There is no direct law that punishes plagiarists but it can be punished under content counterfeiting . The definition and the punishment for plagiarism varies across nationalities .

  • Direct plagiarism : This is when the plagiarist copies the original work of a researcher word for word without seeking to give credit to the original researcher .
  • Accidental plagiarism : Although under the law there are no such excuses but in reality it is possible to copy someones work by mistake . Due to the fact that billions of intellectual work has been published over the years , someone. may accidentally write something that happens to have been written before .
