Hello my fellow steemians, I hope everybody is okay. I want to use this opportunity to fulfill my obligation of getting to know the content etiquette on steemit and obliging to it with sincerity.

DEFINITION OF PLAGIARISM

According to oxford dictionary, Plagiarism means to copy another person's ideas, work or words and pretend that they are your own.
Plagiarism is a nice topic to write about because copy and paste as become the norm of young writers in my community. Plagiarizing someone's has been our daily routine and it is unusual to copy someone's work directly or indirectly and claiming the brain behind the work.

The plagiarist might benefit from it but it doesn't change the fact that the person is a thief and deserved to be punished. As a young writer, I always advice my fellow writers to desist from plagiarism because it doesn't only make them look lazy, but also doesn't add anything to their life. By taking the ideas and words of others without citation example and pretending they are your own, you stealing someone's intellectual property.

The offence of plagiarism can result in punishment as it comes under the copyright law that protect the right of the lawful author or owner of the text or content. Writing must have it's essence, and therefore the writer needs to put in his words and emotions into his work to sound original and genuine.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Direct plagiarism
Hired plagiarism
Borrowed plagiarism
Mosaic plagiarism
Collaboration plagiarism

Direct plagiarism is most dangerous of all the forms of plagiarism because it involves copying and pasting someone's work.
Hired plagiarism is the form of plagiarism whereby one hires another to do a certain piece of writing for him.
Self plagiarism involves copy and pasting from your previous work. This form of plagiarism is common with college students.

I will also use this opportunity to appreciate the works of @lovvday @ngoenyi @steemcurator03 @stemmcurator02 @cryptokannon for their effortless work.

In conclusion, I have read and understood the content etiquette in steemit and am hoping to be verified to continue with the rest of achievements in the newcomers community
