Achievement 6 task: understanding curation and community by @eliany

Hello my fellow steemians. I'm so delighted today to have finished my achievement 5 task 4, and progress to my achievement 6.

In this achievement have understand how curation works in steem, what witness is all about how to vote for a witness. I also learn how to create and join a new or existing community of my interest,how to join a curation trail and finally how to use a 3rd party application like discord.

Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

I will boldly answer YES. Now let me explain, just like Facebook, peoples post and their content is liked, this shows their appreciation for the content of the post. In steemit, voting is also done in like manner, based on the quality contents from users. The outstanding difference from that of facebook is that, voting done in steemit comes with a reward the author and the curator received a reward. This process is known as curation.

I also understand that the reward gotten by the author of the content depend on the steem power of the voter or curator. The more steem power a person have the greater reward pool will be received, it Therefore means that your votings rates and rewards depends on your steem power.

The voting mana can be likened to the battery on your rechargeable electronic devices that reduces it's power when you consistently use it. Just as any of this device charges at 100%, the start your voting mana is 100%, then for every time you vote, 2% energy is taken out from it, reducing your voting power. This reducing implies that the value of the rewards you are giving are also reducing. The first one voted will definitely get a higher reward than the subsequent ones. The goodnews about the voting mana is that it recharges about 20% everyday, we can always give it time to recharge fully.

For newbies in the system that does not have upto 500sp, they still have a voting strength of 1-100%, but once my sp is 500 and above, their voting strength can be set to a percentage limit, always remember to give it time to fully recharged.

Curation reward: 50% of your post payout goes to the author after 7days of making a post, while the other 50% goes to the curators based on their percentage reward. Also note that, the more steem power a person has, the more curation reward he can get through curation.

Downvoting does not add value to the curator but rather it reduces the reward of the author. But in cases where upvotes are higher than the downvotes the author will still gain some reward, unless otherwise.

What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

The best time for the curator to vote on any post is 5mins after a post is being made, so that he can gain 100 curators reward.

This can be illustrated in the table as shown below

So it is wise to vote a post after 5 mins the content is being posted on the platform so as to get 100% curators reward.

I have voted for @justyy and @steemchiller because through out my small journey on steemit, they have been so hardworking, and have prove their hardwork through the wonderful tools they made accessible to all steemit users.

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

I have already joined several communities and below are my reasons for joining them

1. Newcomers- This community has helped me to known more about steemit, it has really explore my knowledge on different tools I should use in steemit.

2. Steemfood- I joined steemfoods because cooking is my hobby. Also learning about different recipes pleases me a lot.

3. Steemwomenclub- This community is really supportive and educative to all women, I also like it because I have learned so many skills from this community.

4. Steemkidss- I joined this community because I so much love kids and reading about them gives me joy.

5. Promosteem- I have passion in promoting steem, that's the reason I joined the community.

These are just some of the communities I have joined already, will still join more as the days go by, after seeing the vision and mission of the community.
