Achievement 2 @EkeneLionel Task: Basic Security on Steem

I welcome you all readers once again to my #achievement 2 on our Newcomers' Community.

Here I'm write a bit about how i understand steemit security keys, how i secured my keys, and a little more of the functionality of the keys.

• Question 1: Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
  Yes, I have retrieved my Posting key, Active key, Owner key, Memo key, and Master password.

• Question 2: Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
  Yes, here are the functions of the keys.

Posting key
This key can be compared to a house key which gives access to the door but not to other locks in the house.

As a steem user, the Posting key is your logging key into Steemit, and its Community. But more importantly, the posting key allows accounts to post, comment, edit, vote, resteem, and follow or mute other accounts.

Active key
This is used for transferring funds, power up/down transactions, converting Steem Dollars, voting for witnesses, updating profile details and avatar, and placing a market order. And according to

Owner key
This is the most powerful key because it can change any key of an account, including the owner key.

Memo key
This is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds.

Master password
This is used to generate all the other keys, including the Owner Key. Because of how important the Master password is, it is essential to store copies of it offline and a hard copy of your password in a place that is safe and accessible by you only.

• Question 3: How do you plan to keep your master password?
  I have successfully completed uploaded a PDF copy of my keys on Google drive, also, I printed a copy and stored it in a safe place.

• Question 4: Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Yes i can, i have outlined the procedures in Question 5.

• Question 5: Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Yes, I do, here's a brief description of how I did it.

1. I simply go to my profile, then I click on the wallet.



2. I clicked on the the navigation icon at the top right corner



Then i was asked to sign up, which i did.



3. Select the green highlighted STEEM, drop-down options will appear.



4. Select power up.



5. Enter the amount of STEEM you intend to power. In my case, i entered '0' because i didnt have much STEEM



6. Click on power-up.
7. Click on OK, by confirming transfer to vesting.
8. Enter your Active Key on a column below your user name, and click on sign in to complete your power-up transactions.
