Plagiarism is the process of taking data,thought ideas,study materials or anything else which is the brain child of another person without giving credit to the original content creator and publishing ,transmitting or recording same by ones own name. Plagiarism can as well be said to be intellectual theft and as such it is considered as crime under state laws and in international law.source

From the foregoing ,it can be deduced that plagiarism is the appropriation of another persons work be it text,image e.t.c without attempt to give credit to the original content owner.Source

In some clime,there is stipulated number of years one will go to prison for plagiarising someones work or pay fine and as the court may wish the person might go in for the two, fine and prison.

DISADVANTAGES OF PLAGIARISM
As a student,teacher,writer or individuals engaging in plagiarism reduces the public view or perception of our work and my destroy our carrier, reputation and sometimes put us in the harms way.

Checkmenting plagiarism, this can be done by keeping track of our source materials used in making research before we forget and thereby quoting an invalid source.

We can as well use plagiarism checker, that is to say that at the end of our work,is advised that we use plagiarism software checker to be sure we are on track.

Citation mark is another way we can fight plagiarism using the APA format or MLA format.
