Etiquette refers to the way by which things are being done in a community. The major rule that governs steemit community is the rule against plagiarism.

What is plagiarism?
According to Wikipedia, plagiarism can be said to be a representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas or expressions as one's own original work.
Plagiarism aslo means lying and stealing. There are several types of plagiarism but I will talk about three.

1. Direct plagiarism
2. Auto plagiarism
3. Complete plagiarism

1. Direct plagiarism: This is a situation where by a writer drafts their work from another source. He or she takes a persons work almost word for word and passes ten off as their own.

2. Auto plagiarism: This is when a writer duplicates his or work by using previously published work without giving reference to the work.

3. Complete plagiarism: This is the most serious form of plagiarism. This is where a person takes a work done by someone else and places it in his or her own name.

Plagiarism is not just secluded to content alone but also applied to copying of photos, music or videos from a source without giving reference to the source.

*WHAT IS THE CONSEQUENCE OF PLAGIARISM ON STEEMIT?
When a plagiarized post is spotted, there will be an automatic down vote by the steemcurators which may lead to loss of resources.

HOW DO I AVOID PLAGIARISM?

• I must make proper research on topics I wish to write about before making a content on it in my own understanding.

• If the need arises to attach a picture or a popular quote, I must make reference to the source and the speaker.
