ACHIEVEMENT 6 by @darrellbass : UNDERSTANDING CURATION AND COMMUNITY

Hello fellow steemians, I’m here with all excitement to share with you my achievement 6 task.

HOW VOTING AND CURATION WORKS ON STEEMIT

Every post pays out after seven days. This payout is being divided among the author and the curators. The author is the creator of the post and the author receives 50% of the amount on the post while curators are those who voted the post (upvote) the other 50% are shared amongst them.

VOTING A POST BEFORE 5 MINUTES MARKS AFTER POSTING

When you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting, you will loose part of your curation reward and the part which is lost goes to the reward pool.

There are two types of votes that is upvote, and downvote. If you like a post, you appreciate the content by upvoting. If you have more SP (Steem Power), your vote will have a large influence on the rewards than the user with less SP. It also depends on the voting mana you hold. It is initially set to 100%. For every 100% vote you cast will use 2% of your remaining voting mana. It gets recharged by 20% each day.

A post can get downvote for any reason, most of the time if posts are abusive or post doesn't follow defined guidelines. It is up to you if you want to follow this etiquette. Also, users may leave a comment explaining why they downvoted, but sometimes they might not. If there is a reason mention in a comment, you can check if you did something wrong and if that can be improved. Below is a tabular explanation of the curation reward % and the time.

WHO WILL YOU VOTE FOR STEEM WITNESSES AND WHY?
Witnesses are usually selected by the steem communities in order to create blocks for the steemit blockchain. I’m going to vote @steemchiller reason being that he made @steemworld.org and @justyy made @steemyy.com . These tools have been very helpful to me as they assisted me in achievement 5 task 1 and achievement 5 task 4.

HOW TO UP VOTE A POST
There are two buttons, one for down vote and one for up vote. The green one is for up vote and the red one is for down vote.

In the picture above, 1 is for up vote and 2 is for down vote. Voting can only have positive influence on a post if you have enough voting power as seen in the previous achievement, 5 TASK 4
