Achievement 4 by @darrellbass Task : Applying Markdowns
Hello steemit world, I am going to be talking on what Environmental Engineering is all about, which is my field of study.
What is Environmental Engineering?
Environmental engineering is the branch of engineering that is concerned with protecting people from the effects of adverse environmental effects, such as pollution, as well as improving environmental quality. Environmental engineers work to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Source
Environmental Engineering is a very broad field. Jobs and innovations can never lack here as we get to see day to day problems and get them solved. There a lot of jobs you can do after studying Environmental Engineering such as: Water Treatment, Environmental Impact Assessment, Farm surveys, soil testing, waste recycling, bio-gas production, etc. The list is endless.
Environmental Engineering is one of the most vital fields in life. we face a lot of problems with the developed world when it comes to common problems we know of which are pollution and global warming. We as environmentalist are here to bring solutions to combat all these rising environmental problems which are detrimental to human and animal health, as well as that of the environment. The world's biggest gaseous pollutant enemy is CO2. Though we have others such as NO2, CFCs( Chloro-Floro-Carbons), CO and many others.
This image on the left side is just a summary of global warming. Global warming is caused by gases emitted by industries and automobiles. These are the main sources of air pollution. As global temperature rises, there's going to be a lot of hazards such as: High amount of UV rays reaching the earth's surface which can cause diseases such as cancer,
melting of ice in areas like Antarctica which can lead to serious floods, just to name a few points.
I'll be ending my write-up with the following quote...
“People ‘over-produce’ pollution because they are not paying for the costs of dealing with it ”
― Ha-Joon Chang
Thank y'all for reading...Peace
