The weather is quite hot here in Lagos, Nigeria. In whatever country you are, I hope your day went quite well. I am indeed happy to be writing this achievement three post because as a writer, singer and entertainer, I can relate. There is indeed a great disappointment and heartbreak that "plagiarism" brings.

Imagine having another person copy, paste and even gain recognition from hundreds or thousands of people in two seconds after you probably spent hours, months and in some cases years to bring forth the idea or achieve a certain goal. It renders you helpless and without course. I feel like its a privilege to be able to air my own opinion on this topic.

What is plagiarism?

A common knowledge of plagiarism insinuates that it involves stealing a person's work, plan, schemes or even suggestions and fronting or putting it out as yours. Other words related to plagiarism includes : piracy, infringement, etc. Plagiarism is therefore a crime worthy of severe punishment since it involves reaping where you did not sow.

Complete plagiarism

According to google this involves the presentation of another person's creation under your name, it is also said to be equal to copyright. If caught, this might attract legal actions against you.

Accidental plagiarism

As its name implies, accidental plagiarism is said to have occurred when a person accidentally uses similar quotes or words from a source and doesn't cite it, it also includes not using your own words even after citing the source.

Source based plagiarism

This kind of plagiarism involves the fabrication of information from non existent sources or the falsification of sources for personal gain, this type of plagiarism can be life threatening especially when it involves your health, food or everyday's life because you have been misled to believe it is from a trustworthy source.

Verbatim

It is a plagiarism that involves copying and pasting of other peoples work exactly how it is in its original state and submitting or presenting it as yours word for word.

Personally I think it is one of the main reasons why it was included in our achievement tasks. In order for us to understand the do's and don'ts of this website and also the gravity of your offence, if caught doing so. It is therefore forbidden on this website.

I would advice that anyone both on or off this website stays clear off plagiarism. Find your own meaning to things, create ideas and read thoroughly. It is never nice to take credit for another person's work or ideas.
