As a newcomer on steemit, you will be provided with different keys which would be used to perform different tasks on steemit, these keys are special and so it is required that you keep them safe because without them you won't have easy access to your steemit account. Below are those special keys and their different functions.

POSTING KEY

This can be used for logging in to your steemit account so you can post, vote on posts etc.

PRIVATE MEMO KEY

This is simply used for decryption of your private transfer memos.

PRIVATE OWNER KEY

This is used for resetting all other keys when your steemit account is compromised and it can be used to recover the account within thirty days.

PRIVATE ACTIVE KEY

This key is used to power up steem, transfer token and perform actions related to your steemit wallet.

PUBLIC KEYS

This key is simply used for encryption and verification of messages on steemit.

STEEM WALLET

This is used for powering steem up and also powering down.
