ACHIEVEMENT 2 by @charles33 Task: Basic Security On Steemit
source
Hi, fellow steemains. I have now learnt the functions of the keys. Il Steemit, there are different types of keys for different purposes , There are 5 keys which include: the master key which is given to you immediately after signing in to Steemit for the first time, posting key, active key, owner key and memo key.
1. Posting Key
The posting key is one of the most important and commonly used keys. It allows you to do a couple of things on Steemit. Things which include:
- It is used to to post and comment on Steemit
- It is used to upvote and downvote
- It is used to resteem, follow/mute
2. Active Key
Another interesting key is the active key. This key is a key which concerns monetary dealings on Steemit. When using your wallet active key is needed. Your active key should be kept very save because it is the most important key to hackers. This is because it is used in money related dealings. The active key is used to:
- transfer a token
- power up and power down
- vote for writers
- transfer tokens
- create a new user etc.
3. Owner key
The owner key is also another very important key, this is because it is used to change other keys. And if a hacker gets his/her hands on this key, its jackpot for him/her . The owner key is used to :
!. Change other key
- Recover your account
- Decline voting right
4. Memo key
The memo key is one of the least important keys. This is because the only thing the memo key is able to do is encrypt or decrypt private messages that are sent through blockchain.
All the keys are very important and should be backed up by:
- writing the keys in a piece of paper
- saving in a storage device such as flash, portable hard disk, and SD cards
- and for the Brainiacs memorizing it (if you can).
How to transfer your steem tokens to another steem account
