আমার জন্ম বাংলাদেশের চট্টগ্রামে, এমন একটি পরিবারে যেখানে বৈচিত্র্য ছিল আমাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনের অংশ। আমার বাবা, ঢাকার একজন শীর্ষস্থানীয় সিভিল ইঞ্জিনিয়ার, এবং আমার মা, হাঙ্গেরিয়ান বংশোদ্ভূত কিন্তু আমেরিকায় বেড়ে উঠেছেন, দুই পৃথিবীকে এক ছাদের নিচে একত্রিত করেছেন। স্বাস্থ্যসেবা বিষয়ে পড়াশোনার জন্য আমার মায়ের বাংলাদেশে যাত্রার ফলে একটি স্থানীয় হাসপাতালে সংস্কারের মধ্য দিয়ে আমার বাবার সাথে সৌভাগ্যের মুখোমুখি হয়েছিল। ভাগ্যবান, আপনি জিজ্ঞাসা? আচ্ছা, আরে, আমি জন্মেছিলাম! আমি এই পৃথিবীতে এসেছি, আমার বাংলাদেশি বাবা এবং আমেরিকান মায়ের মধ্যকার ব্যবধান দূর করে।

I'm thrilled to be part of the vibrant Steemit community! I'm eager to share a bit about myself.

My name is Alexandra Chandra, and my background is a blend of two rich cultures.

I was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh, to a family where diversity was part of our everyday lives. My father, a top civil engineer from Dhaka, and my mother, of Hungarian descent but raised in America, brought together two worlds under one roof. My mother's journey to Bangladesh for studies in healthcare led to a fortunate encounter with my father at a local hospital undergoing renovation. Lucky, you ask? Well, hey, I was born! I came into this world, bridging the gap between my Bangladeshi father and American mother.

Growing up, I faced the challenge of navigating the language barrier with my American mother in a predominantly Bengali-speaking environment. Despite being born in Bangladesh, English was predominantly spoken at home. Thankfully, my grandmother played a pivotal role in preserving our cultural roots, imparting invaluable lessons, and instilling cultural norms through the native language.

When I was 12, my dad passed away, and it crushed our world. With no family nearby in Bangladesh, my mom decided we should move to America when I was 13. It was tough adjusting to life in a new country. But California became our new home, and it was a relief. We found comfort there and plenty of chances to start over. California is absolutely beautiful; I really enjoyed visiting the sea.

My academic journey led me to UC San Diego, where I pursued a degree in nursing. Inspired by my mother's dedication to healthcare, I aspired to follow in her footsteps. However, the longing to reconnect with my roots and family drew me back to Bangladesh. Currently, I'm a resident at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), specializing in orthopedics. My goal is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others, combining the best of both worlds - Western medical and traditional Bangladeshi values.

Beyond medicine, I enjoy staying close to my family and friends. I enjoy networking and making meaningful relationships. I enjoy good food, shopping, relaxing on my time off, yoga, and practicing mindfulness. I try to stay up-to-date and informed about the latest news and trends. I'm particularly interested in learning more about crypto; I enjoy day trading.

I plan to blog about various topics. I'm excited to share my experiences, insights, and perspectives with the Steemit community. If you are interested in following me, feel free to do so!
